Once again I'm getting to the point where it's very hard for me to be happy for anyone for any reason. It sucks because if someone I care about tells me that something incredible is happening to them, I feel jealous, but if they tell me something terrible is happening to them I feel bad for being happy that I'm not the only person who is feeling bad.

I haven't been letting myself externalize any of the negativity I'm feeling because I'm trying to stay positive and think positive and write positively and the only problem with this is that the longer I do it the more fucking horrible I feel. But I really don't want to expose anyone to my internal bullshit right now. It's all the same as it ever was and the longer I sit with it the more bullshit I find hiding in the recesses of my brain. I sit with it for days on end and then someone asks me what's going on in my life, or how I'm feeling and nothing but positive talk comes out of my mouth.

You may know about this, but I thought it was a small enough world that I should mention it.

In March, [Robin] Metz will take a group of six Knox student writers to Sarah Lawrence College where they will present their poetry and fiction to the public (Knox, Sarah Lawrence, and Oberlin were featured in the Jan/Feb ‘05 issue of Poets & Writers magazine); subsequently, the students will participate in a Greenwich Village, NYC tribute to renowned Knox alumna artist and poet Dorothea Tanning ’32 (see The New Yorker profile, May, 2004); also participating will be Knox Theatre Department alumnae (and professional actresses) Amy Carlson ’90 and Caitlin Muelder ’96; Knox English Department alumni (and former Knox faculty) Joseph Lennon ’90 and Sean Mills ’90; and current Knox faculty Elizabeth Carlin-Metz (Theatre) and Marilyn Webb (Journalism). In April, Metz will host a reciprocal reading for six Sarah Lawrence student writers (and six Knox student writers) at Pookie’s Coffee Bar in Galesburg.

You should prep those poor Sarah Lawrence students for a "coffee bar" in Galesburg...and Robin in general...

I knew about the New York event, I plan on attending, but I didn't know they were gonna host a little something for SLC students. Oh man, that's rich!
