I'm happy now :-) Just spent the last 45 minutes talking to Jackson Borsada, one of our cutest, most charming, and popular library regulars. He is one of my favorite pieces of library eye candy. We talked about movies and television and college. I feel all flirty and cute now. He's a major charmer :-D

Tonight's big project is to scour my bookshelves for short stories I can pass on to Sebastien. I've been wanting to give him something to read for so long, esspecially since he lends me a book or movie or cd almost every week. He's really excited about sharing the stuff he enjoys with others. And, while we've come to realize that we have completely different tastes in, oh, everything, that doesn't stop him from lending and it doesn't stop me from trying. Having come in Monday blasting Scent of Green Papaya, today he decided to lend me something a little more comedic. It's a Canadian film called Strange Brew. Seb says it's one of those movies that is so bad you just HAVE to watch it. Kinda like Showgirls.

Anyway, this is like the fifth or sixth thing he's let me borrow since I started working here so today I was like, "I need to give you something to read, what sort of stuff do you fancy?" Apparently he likes short stories, and poems. He can't get through novels. He doesn't know anything about spoken word poetry which is complete heresy in my eyes. I'm thinking I might lend him "No More Mister Nice Girl," Maggie Estep's first spoken word album. I could just lend him "Aloud," but reading spoken word poetry on the page is sort of missing the point, ya know?

One way or the other I'm definitely compiling a list of short stories for him. I'll have to give him some Dorothy Parker, he's never read her. I've gotta let him read "Call my Name" by Aimee Bender. I was thinking of giving him "Quiet Please," but I think that would be a little weird coming from one library worker to another, particularly when the two said workers work alone together one day a week. I'm gonaa give him"The Messenger," by Maggie Estep. Maybe "Dear John Wayne," by Sherman Alexie. MAybe some Tommy Franklin :-) And of course I can't remember what else I own so I'll just have to wait till I get home to see what I have.

*looks towards reserve shelves* OOOH Heath Anthology of American Literature! Maybe that'll give me some ideas.
