Good for the Goose
Jan. 10th, 2009 06:46 pm1) Yesterday morning the arch of my left foot was involved in an unfortunate collision with a retracted mechanical pencil. The pencil was laying on the floor of my apartment, my foot accidentally descended upon it, and voila! An inch of pencil was suddenly embedded in my flesh. Does it hurt? Like a motherfucker, though it is better today than it was yesterday. Just trying to stay in bed and keep the weight off of it.
2) Greg gave me a $60 Amazon gift card for Christmas, part of which I used to purchase a copy of Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog on DVD. Flesh wound and all, I went down to my mother's last night and made her watch it. She really enjoyed it. I knew she would. She loves super heroes. She loves musicals. She loves Neil Patrick Harris. There was no possible way she wasn't going to like it.
3) You may recall Mr. Cibula, the junior high school creative writing teacher I got back in touch with a few years ago? Well, he and a few of his cohorts write a music blog called Cave17. He sent me a quick message on Facebook this afternoon informing me that Cave17 is going to start publishing poetry and asked if I'd submit some stuff. The completed poems I have on hand don't really match Cave17's aesthetic. I have a couple of decent pieces in process but, that's just the thing, they're in process. Eh, I'll drudge something up. After all, this is Mr. Cibula we're talking about. He always expected the best from me so what can I do but give it to him?

3) What kind of aesthetic does Cave17 have inasmuch as it doesn't match with yours? I more want to know what you think of/how you'd describe your own aesthetic, so this seems like a logical place to start.
4) I've determined that in late April I'm totally coming down to New York. Will that be awesome?
5) You said yourself a long time ago that you were planning on visiting Chicago again this year. ANY chance you'd be doing that before March 7? If you can, you'll get to see the most maddeningly amazing Macbeth production ever!

3) It doesn't match in that the tone of the poems I have available aren't wry or edgey enough. All I've got right now are love-gone-wrong poems, and though most of them are fairly good, they just don't belong at Cave17.
4) YOU BETTER NOT BE FUCKING WITH ME!
5) After giving it some thought I don't think I'm going to be able to get out to Chicago this year, at least not during the month of March. I've been experiencing some health problems recently that have nothing to do with pencils, but that need to be resolved before I take any long trips, and that's gonna take a few months.

3) Remind me to ask you about this one later.
4&5) Well if you're not coming down to Chicago then I am DEFINITELY coming down for April. There is simply no choice on the matter.
