Mike Bloomberg wants to reverse the term limits law so he can serve a third term as Mayor of NYC?! What the fuck?! Mike, you had your eight years, now get the fuck out! Don't cry and stamp your feet like a whiney little bitch, just pack your bags and call a mover to haul all your furniture out of Gracie Mansion. New Yorkers have twice voted to maintain the two term limit. We don't like having the same person in charge for more than a decade. It makes us nervous. You are not special, Mike. Just because the economy is being sucked down the drain does not mean we need or want you in office for a third term to help us "emerge from financial turmoil." There are plenty of public servants who can help us do that. Do yourself a favor and bow out gracefully because by God we will fight you on this and you will lose. Do you really want to be known as the Mayor who wouldn't leave? Is that the legacey you'd like to leave behind?

I haven't sent in any updates because I'm still waiting for that one major life-changing event that would justify it. Like, say, getting a book published, or getting married, or getting a promotion at work, or moving.

A lot of Knoxians have been published, and most of them don't send updates to the mag. announcing it, so I don't want to be an annoying braggert. I would be more comfortable saying something like "Hey, I'm moving to Mars! I'm really excited about it. Oh, and my poetry is all over the internet. Everyone should come visit me on the Red Planet. I have a sofa you can crash on."

What's worse is he's trying to bypass the voters entirely by getting the city council to temporarily recind the law. That would allow him his third term without having to answer to the voters, plus it would allow the law to remain intact so all future politicians would still be bound by it.

Did I mention that Bloomberg has always been a really vocal supporter of term limits. Not, apparently, when they apply to him though.

How does he even think he could help? I'm puzzled as well.

He thinks that his experience in the business and finance world makes him particularly suited to help NYC through the current financial crisis. But he's really friggin arrogant to think his experience so far above everyone else's that it warrants a third term as Mayor.
