Clean Sweep

I vacuumed and Febrezed my carpet last night, no small task when you take into account how much shit was on the floor. I had to neaten up the place before I could even get started. But, it was worth it because it seems to have gotten rid of that smell.

What smell, you ask? Why, that sour, earthy smell - like rotting greens - that I noticed Tuesday night. I don't know where it came from or what caused it. There was literally no food in my house at the time so it couldn't have come from anything having gone bad. I'd taken out all the trash just a few hours earlier. There was nothing in my apartment that could have possibly conjured this particular scent. Maybe it wafted up from downstairs, I don't know.

What I do know is that it had been a long ass time since I last hosed down the apartment from floor to ceiling. So, I threw all the crap that had been laying on the floor onto my bed (thus making it impossible for myself to go to sleep without organizing all of it), and gave the carpet some nice sudsy love. And guess what? My apartment don't stink anymore. Yay!

There is still a lot to be done though. I still plan to clean the entire place regardless of how fresh it currently smells. I am not utilizing the space in my apartment as effectively as I could. I need to get rid of a lot of stuff and organize whatever is left over. I need to...

Clean the bathroom (scrub shower stall, scrub floor, throw out empty bottles and unused products, clean the toilet bowel)

Throw out old boxes I have no use for.

Get rid of old magazines that are cluttering up the place.

Buy a file cabinet.

Dust.

Invest in more scented candles.

Wash extra sheets and change the sheets on my bed as soon as this is done.

Reduce the amount of dirty laundry I have laying around by promising to go to the laundromat at least twice a week until all my clothes are clean.

Get rid of books I no longer want or have no intention of ever reading.

Get rid of old clothing that A) no longer fits, or B) I just don't wear anymore for whatever reason.

Get rid of all the shoes I never wear.

Clean the refrigerator.

Clean the toaster.

Hmm, that's all I can think of right this second, but I know there's more. It probably wouldn't hurt to sweep the stairs or replace the screen on my west-facing window.

Moving on, who is your favorite Top Chef dyke? Personally, I'm fond of Jennifer. Cute girl sporting a mohawk and button down shirt at the same time? What's not to like? I was sad to see her go last week. But, Andrew is actually my favorite cast member this year. He is just so weird and random and New York. I love him. I want to meet him. I want him to cook me a three course meal, and I want to wear a dress designed by Daniel Vosovic to the table that night.
