About a month back, one of my co-workers told me about ruckus.com, a site that allows free, legal music downloads to college students, staff, faculty, and alumni. If you have an edu email address you can register. You just download the ruckus software onto your computer and start downloading shit. You can't burn the music onto CD, but I'm told you can transfer songs onto your ipod if you have one.
I have already downloaded nine albums tonight:
Stranger Than Fiction by Bad Religion (contains one of my very favorite post-Moses Debacle songs.)
Four-Calendar Cafe by Cocteau Twins (downloaded on
slinkybetty's recommendation, and I totally dig it!)
In Your Honor by Foo Fighters
The Color and the Shape by Foo Fighters
Saltbreakers by Laura Veirs
Little Voice by Sara Bareilles
Neon Ballroom by Silverchair
The Con by Tegan and Sara
Gentlemen by Afghan Whigs
Libertad by Velvet Revolver
My current playlist contains the following songs, none of which I have been able to evict from my brain for the last 8 hours:
Pink Light - Laura Veirs (AKA my new obsession)
The Last Fight - Velvet Revolver
The Con - Tegan and Sara
Love Song - Sara Bareilles
Know Who You Are At Every Age - Cocteau Twins
Don't Lose Yourself - Laura Veirs
The Last Song - Foo Fighters
Later - 12:36 AM:
Over the last hour the following album have been added to my ruckus collection:
High July by Katell Keineg
Gravity by Our Lady Peace
Naveed by Our Lady Peace
Courage by Paula Cole (this woman was a staple of my high school years, I owe it to her to listen to her latest musical offerings.)
Detours by Sheryl Crow
light of the Moon by The Pierces
