I REALLY Need to Find a New Place to Live
Sep. 13th, 2007 03:52 pmMy internet AND my cable went out last night, so I was forced to miss the first half of my work day because the Cablevision technician had to come check it out. Turns out someone fucked up and disconnected my cable when they disconnected my land-people's. The technician had it all back up and running in ten minutes. I told him this was the second time within a two week period that I'd had this happen. I asked if I should expect it to keep happening, if I was going to have to call a technician every week to come fix my signal? Of course, he said, no, everything was fine. So, now I get to go home tonight and see if I still have cable. At this point I have lost a lot of faith in Cablevision. I can't afford to miss half a days work every week all because they can't get their shit straight. If this happens again I'm going to cancel my service. And, since Cablevision is the only cable and internet provider in my area, that would mean doing without both. I wouldn't like it, but I'd do it if just having the service was going to require an absurd amount of maintainance.
The reason my land-people had their cable switched off is because they moved out! Didn't even bother to tell any of the tenants. The only reason I found out was because I saw the movers packing up all their furniture. I called my landlady on her cellphone just to confirm. She told me that since she just gave birth to her third child, they needed a larger apartment then the one on the ground floor of my building. Perfectly undrstandable. That apartment is too small for three children and two parents. Still, they should have informed us. She said they haven't decided what they are going to do with the vacant apartment. They don't know if they are going to rent it out, or fix it up, or what. All I know is she better figure it out soon because winter is fast approaching, and as we all know, the single thermostat that provides heat for ALL four apartments is in that vacant one. If they rent that sucker out they're going to have to find tenants who don't mind getting called at 2 in the morning asking that they turn up the heat. What I'm hoping is that they will remodel and FINALLY install separate thermostats in each apartment. Then I might actually be able to have some fucking HEAT in the winter.
