I have been sitting at my computer playing Neopets and talking to Greg for I don't know how many hours. All I know is it was light out when I sat down. I guess I've done more than play games and talk. I burned a CD of all the CD singles I have lying around that I never listen to simply because there's only one song on each of them. Right now I'm listening to Pandora and marvelling at the new features they've introduced since the last time I logged in. Now every station you create automatically gets its own webpage complete with photos of all the seed bands, list of all approved music and space to type your own description of the station. I guess it's to allow for easier swapping and sharing. I think it rocks.
I am on spring break this week which is why I can afford to sit around on my ass playing video games and listening to internet radio. Sarah Lawrence isn't like other colleges. Our students get two weeks off for spring break, and staff members can choose to take one of those weeks totally off. I had planned to do as little as possible this week; catch up on my sleep, watch a lot of Futurama, but I've been surprisingly busy.
Last Saturday I attended Camille's 27th birthday shindig with the rest of my high school buds. I hadn't seen most of them in something ridiculous like 10 months. Last year we'd planned to celebrate all seven of our birthdays together, but scheduling conflicts only allowed for three or four. All of us summer birthday girls were shit outta luck. It was nice to see the girls. The only person not in attendance was Claris because she had to go to a funeral instead. Everyone is doing well. Shanecka is busy planning a wedding for one of her friends. She says she is enjoying it more than actually being IN a wedding. It also costs way less :-) Elisabeth is two months away from completing her Master's degree in Education at Hunter. Camille's foot is healing up. She is supposed to get all the screws and shit out in April. I love those girls so much. They crack my shit up.
That same evening I went out to Long Island to spend some quality time with Greg. Came back Sunday and watched Battlestar Galactica :-)
The highlight of yesterday was that it was so warm I was able to spend the night up in my apartment. After two and half months down at my Mom's it was a welcome homecoming. I wacthed 24 and The Riches, and just revelled in the blessed solitude and warmth of the place. The last thought I remember having last night before falling asleep was "Wow, it's so quiet." For the first time in ages I was able to let the sound of silence lull me to sleep. Tonight is much the same. It's not supposed to get really cold again until Thursday or Friday night, so I have at least one more wonderful night alone up here before the weather forces me back into Manhattan.
I went and had my yearly physical today. The yearly physical I haven't bothered to get in several years. I figured my health has been bad enough to make getting one this year worth while. Aside from all my chronic conditions, Nancy says I'm fit as a fiddle, which was exactly what I was expecting to hear. If she had told me anything different I would have fainted. I was supposed to see the Lady Doctor tomorrow, but my monthly visitor stopped by this morning so that appointment had to be rescheduled.
Michael and his latest squeeze are in the process of breaking up, as a result he's invited me to see a show tomorrow night that she was originally supposed to see with him; the revival of Talk Radio starring Liev Schrieber and Stephanie March. I'm psyched! I love those two.
And let's not forget about St. Patrick's Day when Mike, Mom, Greg and I will be hopping a train to Philadelphia to go see the King Tut exhibit at the science museum. I'm beyond psyched about it. Not only am I looking forward to seeing the treasures of Tut's tomb with my own eyes, I'm looking forward to the many postcards they will surely be selling in the gift shop :-D
It was funny, when Greg told me he planned to go visit a buddy of his in Europe this summer (I was invited to come along, but we all know I don't fly anymore,) the first thing I said was "You have to bring me back postcards!" I'm such a silly bird.
So, in short, life is good :-D Let's hope it stays that way. *knocks on ten different types of wood*
