Dude, when I checked vacancies at 9:30 this morning every hotel in G-Burg was already booked with the exception of Fairfield Inn. I didn't try to book the room until after I got home from work at 6:00 PM. I think I got the last, or the close to last room at Fairfield Inn. Since Tina's dog and ten billion cats would prevent me from staying with her, I knew I had to book a room before I could even entertain the idea of going out there.
So, who knows, I may not be able to afford this trip come June. In that case, I'll cancel the reservation and make THAT family, you know the one I'm talking about, the one that waits till the last minute to make reservations and then freaks out because there are no rooms at the inn, I'm going to make THEM very happy. And, if I can afford to go, I don't have to worry about accomadations. For once.
Aren't you close enough that you could just drive up for the day?
I am indeed close enough just to drive. But it's still long enough of one that makes it a little annoying to get up at the asscrack of dawn to make it over in time to find parking and good seats.
But, then again, I guess it's more economical to just drive. Moreover, with the possibility of you visiting being one of the few exceptions, there's not much left there for me these days. I don't even think I know that many people graduating in '07.
Might get a hotel room for a night during Homecoming, though. I'm planning on making it a bit of a "Hey, look, I'm less than 60 pounds overweight!" celebration and I'm hoping to see quite a few folks from the '02 set as they come for their five-year reunion.
I would love to see you if I come out. I vote that you come up for the day. I don't know anyone in the 2007 graduating class at all but, c'mon! How often does a former president give a speech at your alma mater?
hot damn im gonna see me some carla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sweeet i thought the crowd was big for obama....this crowd could be insane. oh i hope you can afford it that would rock.
Yes! That's what I initially called to tell you the other night. Barring grave financial disaster I think I should be able to swing it. Like I said, don't know if they'll let me observe the festivities without a ticket, but even if the secret service drive me off the premises, I'll get to spend time with you and that alone makes the whole trip worth while.
