And...Breathe
Apr. 7th, 2006 03:52 pmI took the apartment.
After last night's freak out and all of 3 hours of sleep I woke up with the intention of telling the Pezzulos I wasn't interested. However, while staring out the bus window on my ride to work this morning I realized that I really like the area, and the idea of strolling to and from Sarah Lawrence each day. Also realized I was looking at moving in a very negative light. I was operating under the completely false assumption that if I took the new apartment and wound up hating it, I would be stuck there. Not true. If I hate it, I can always move out. I don't hate my current apartment, but it has some very unpleasant downsides. Last night, my fear of change was rearing its ugly head and I was of the mind that the evil I knew was better than the one I didn't. But...even if the new place isn't ideal, it has way more pros than cons, and I'm willing to try and make it work for me. If I can't make that happen I'll just find a new place to live. End of story.
Micky's son Elio, who had a hand in setting up my appointment to see the house, sounded happy to hear I'd be moving in when I spoke to him this afternoon. We've decided to do month to month. The apartment is cable ready so I don't have to worry about calling Cablevision and getting everything set up, and Elio said he'd take care of getting me a cable internet hook up. I told them I'd try to be in by the last week of April.
So now I have 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to pack up my life and ship it 15 driving minutes north. I hate packing. It's such a tedious, time consuming task. But *shrugs* whaddaya gonna do? Goodbye free time! I'll see you again once the new apartment is all set up.
