Precious Things - SCN
May. 29th, 2003 11:33 amYesterday sucked sixteen different levels of ass, therefore I am not going to take the time to re-count it. I'd much rather forget the whole day ever happened.
Even so, a couple of cool things DID happen so I'm gonna write about them, and perhaps by doing so affirm the good and neagate the bad.
1)Gemma sent me a Livejournal code yesterday :) I have a Livejournal now. Don't worry though I'm not leaving SCN just yet. Still not ready, even though I do think I'm gonna start phasing myself out after I graduate. I've already heavily withdrawn from the religion forum. This journal is gonna be the next to go. When it does however, I do plan on giving my Livejournal address to anyone who is genuinely interested in continuing to follow my life (yeah right.) And I plan on sticking with the Groups here at SCN. I run two really fabulous groups, DepressionSupport, and PagansAndOccultists, and the people are just so great and the groups are really helpful, so I'll stick around for them.
2)This event isn't from yesterday it's actually from this morning. I finally found what I was looking for: humanizing information about Matt Shepard.
http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/Stonewall/2878/
This site gives really detailed mundane infor a bout Matt like what schools he attended, what his interests and hobbies were, his mom's maiden name, stuff like that. I also found another site that contained multiple pictures of Matt, and I found the single most humanizing image I've seen of him to date: a full copy of his old AOL profile. Oh man seeing that was just heartbreaking, because it really brought home the fact that he was just a regular guy. Like any other college student he spent a lot of time playing on the internet and sending IM's and...he was just like you and me. Not special. Just a guy. And he was killed because Aaron Mckinney and Russ Henderson didn't understand that he was just a guy.
3)And here is an amusing exchange that took place yesterday in math class between me and Gemma. Burgland was wearing this funky dress shirt yesterday that had the buttons sewed onto the back. So at one point I leaned over to Gemma and said:
Carla: "How do you put on a shirt with buttons in the back?"
Gemma: "You ask your husband."
Carla: "What if he's already gone to work?"
Gemma: "The kids? The dog? The nextdoor neighbor? The pool man? The dentist? Hell if I know!"
