Delusions of Grandeur

I believe I've been living under the assumption that I'm prettier than I actually am. After getting my photo ID taken today I'm starting to notice a striking difference between what I think I see in the mirror every morning and what others might be seeing. I'm no great neauty by any stretch of the imagination. Never have been, never will be. And generally I'm a bit sloppy, and frizzy, and ill assembled, but I've always considered myself presentable. You wouldn't be embaressed to be seen in public with me. At least that's what I've always thought. But I WOULD be embarressed to be seen with the girl staring back from my photo ID. She is unpleasantly plump, her cheeks are too big, her hair is a nightmare from hell, and her eyes are all buggy. Her skin is all shiney even though she actually bothered to put on powder this morning. She's a mess. And some will say "Well of course you looked shitty Carla, it's a photo ID, everyone looks bad in their photo ID," or "Hey some people just don't photograph very well." I know I don't photograph well. I've taken maybe three good pictures my entire life but...maybe it's not the camera's fault. Maybe I'm just not as attractive as I've thought myself to be?

It's a thought.

Some people actually change the way their face looks because they think "oh, picture!" and do something strange with it, like raise their eyebrows or contract one of their facial muscles. That's why some people never look like themselves in photos. It's pretty subconscious, too. That might be what's happening.

dude, it's totally the fact that it's an ID picture. i swear they always choose the worst lighting for those things, and then they always print out funny. so ignore it. totally

I have a picture on my myspace profile? I don't remember putting one up. I NEVER sign in since all I've ever gotten out there are emails from guys saying shit like "hey baby wanna fuck." I much prefer Friendster even though I only sign in there once every six months or so.

...and I could say what I know we're all thinking, so I will...outter beauty doesn't last anyway. Personality is so much more attractive. I am not ashamed to admit that I am a bit zaftig. For those who don't know, it means I've gained a *little* weight...yet that doesn't seem to matter to some...
