I dunno if it's my shitty AOL connection or just this site, but it's been a nightmare trying to get SCN to load these last couple of days. That's why I haven't been on much. Whenever I try to navigate to another page it won't load and I have to reload it a few times before I can get it to come up. I'm not having this problem on any other site, just SCN. So...JEFF!!!! TELL SOMEONE TO FIX WHATEVER THE HELL IS WRONG!!!!!

Welp I located the Quote of the Week on Thursday evening when Mike and I went and saw Buffalo Soldiers, which was fabulous by the way. Joaquin Phoenix states at the very beginning of the movie...

"War is hell. But peace is fucking boring."

You said it Joaquin. The movie makes a point about how humans are constantly at war with something, that they can never be satisfied with peace and quiet, soldier or not they gotta always drum up a little drama to keep them busy. How very true it is. I'm a living example. I mean I get so damn bored when things are going well. I've always gotta be in crisis or working my ass off at something or both. I can't remember ever being just at peace. I'm always hittig rock bottom or picking myself up from rock bottom. Thats my pattern.

Tonight Mike and I are going to see Stephen Malkmus play in Brooklyn. Promises to be fun. This'll be the first live rock show I've seen since Rage at the Colloseum. That was...shit three years ago! um, yeah it's about damn time I got off my ass and went to another concert.

Still putting off writing my introduction although "Thieves" and "If they Knew" are done. Most of the poems are finished too. Just gotta rewrite "Demons" and fuck with the last stanza to "Aftter His Suicide." Neither should take very long. But I got no motivation to write this intro. nope nope nope. I don't care about it, it's stupid, why would anyone want to read about my process if I don't even want to write a bout it? Typically a writer can tell how good an idea is by how much it excites them. if you can get excited about writing something chances are there are people out there who will be able to get exctied reading it. If you can't get excited about a concept, thats your cue to trash it. At this point, almost a year after it's original due date, I think I should be allowed to scrap my intro. Let my writing fucking speak for itself.

Oh and I'm reading some more Pete Carroll. Went to Enchantments the other day and got a copy of the Liber Null and Psychonaut. One thing I'm noticing about Carroll is that he keeps stressing the need to perform every ritual to it's utmost perfection yet he doesn't give any detailed description of the rituals he refers to. Now how counter productive is that? But I am experimenting with some of his basic gnosis excersises and those are kinda fun. Like trying to sit completely still for 15 minutes. There's a challenge. No blinking, no swallowing, no moving your tongue or twitching your toes, total motionlessness. It's hard, so far I've only been able to maintain 4 minutes of stillness. But those 4 minutes were rad!!!

When you don't move your body at all, your mind begins to lose awareness of it. And you start to feel like you aren't even in your body anymore, like it isn't even there. I'm thinking this is the mentality needed to achieve astral projection. I mean, a lot of astral travel occurs during sleep and takes the form of a dream. Dream occur in REM sleep during which the body is essentially paralyzed. Makes sense that this should be the case if one needs to lose awareness of the body in order to leave it.

Ya know what I'm saying?

And last but not least I guess I ahould explain the title of this entry. Okay in Some Like it Hot in the first scene where he sees Marilyn Monroe, all curvy and bouncy, Jack Lemmon says, "Thats jello on springs!!!" I like that image. Marilyn was a size 14 ya know? Size 14 was the height of sexy. Makes me feel kinda good now that I'm a size 12. No, I'm not chubby, I'm jello on springs :)
