Homecoming Killed Our Phone
Oct. 16th, 2002 02:24 amA few days ago I came up with the perfect idea for Clark's birthday card. I didn't think I could come up with anything better than last year's collage of unflattering photos, but I have and I've enlisted Tina's help in the process. On the front, I'm gonna have her draw a picture of a rock with a birthday hat on it, sitting in the middle of the forest. Then inside it's gonna say "Happy Birthday, You Rock!" ISN'T THAT CUTE?! And it works on so many levels!
So anyway, I emailed him yesterday, asking for his address. The email went something like this:
"*trying to look as innocent as humanly possible*
Suppose I wanted to send you something, where would I send it?
*shifts eyes upward towards halo*"
Today I got this reply in addition to his mailing address:
"you know that my birthday is really in march, right?
*wink*
-clark"
Heh heh, fucker. That made me laugh.
And speaking of Clark he was one of the few 2002 graduates who did not show up for homecoming which was absolutely spectacular!
A breif list of those in attendance: Heather, Gayle, Cara, Frannie, Chris Nelson, Dan Hegedus, Bryce, Sarah, Erin Farb, Rhea, Brooks, Stacia, Lauren Rice, Carolina, Steve, Quinn, Jacob, Meegan, Steffi, Tom Danielson, John Coon, Becki, Erin Severs and her friend Andrea, Jen Cintron, Evie, Erica Giordan, Brett Zick, John Doyle, Tessa, Theo, Katja.
Those who should have been in attendance: Clark, Christopher, Norman, Meghan, Katie and Jeremiah, Pam, Miriam, Toby, Mary Morales, Angie
I'd love to give you the play by play of all the wonderful things we did this weekend, all the fun that was had, and all the love that was floating around, but it's all such a blur I know I'd foul it up if I tried. So I will sum up the weekend by relating a single story, the story of our telephone. I think that should say it all.
From an email I sent to my mom earlier this week:
"it has been a crazy yet highly satisfying weekend. Everyone who I could have possibly hoped to see was back on campus for Homecoming. I saw people who I hadn't seen since graduation. Heather, Gayle, and I had a wonderful time back together again. My friend Erin who I haven't seen or spoken to in almost two years was here, and she bought me the softest, cutest stuffed turkey in the world that is going to look really cute as a center piece come thanksgiving :)
I swear it was like a huge nonstop party all across campus this weekend. As you know, we only had 4 people sleeping in our apartment, but there were usually 6 or 7 more crammed in socializing at any given time. Saturday morning our phone started ringing at 10 AM and continued to ring every 15 minutes for over two hours. I'm totally serious! Eventually the calls stopped, but that was only because our phone broke! Apparently its circuits couldn't handle the huge influx of calls and just pooped out for good half way through the day. And even though we had to go out and buy a new phone, Gemma and I view the broken one as a testament to how much we are loved."
