Desert of the Real
Sep. 28th, 2003 10:53 pmIt has been a nice relaxing day. It rained all day so Mom and I just stayed in. I slept till two, and then watched Back to the Future part three. I just love that Marty Mcfly. He's always around when I need a friend what with USA, TNT, and TBS airing all of the movies on a fairly regular basis.
Mom spent the day cleaning her room. She's going to Florida for a week and while she's gone Laura's parents are going to visit so she needed to straighten up since they'll prolly sleep in her bed. She came across this whole box of old photographs. There were some black and white ones of my dad from the fifties, there were some of me as a baby. I was so bored looking as a child. Whereas Michael and Talia were always posing for the camera, I just look jaded in my pictures. Even at four months I was bored with the world.
Speaking of Michael, he called yesterday. I tell ya, for a guy who just got fired, he is insanely happy. Turns out he was thinking of quitting anyway. At least now he gets a severance package and unemployment. He's looking forward to the free time he'll finally have.
And Other Mike called last night as well. We spoke for five hours. We bonded.
I caved a few days ago and bought two books I've been drooling over for months. A book of philisophical writings on The Matrix, and another of philisophical writings on Buffy. The Matrix book is a bit disappointing. The first five essays weren't even about Matrix OR philosophy, but about science fiction as a genre. The essay I'm up to now is pretty good though, about the Matrix and Postmodernism. It's the first half way decent essay I've read thus far.
I'm really excited about this week cause all my favorite shows are premiering. Hey, can anyone bring me up to date on Angel? What's this I hear about Connor not being Angel's son? And Cordy being in a coma? What happened?
