I mean, he's pretty spot-on here, but given that in the past he's said some really mean-spirited, ignorant things about bi people, polyamorous people, trans people, fat women, and so on, he is far from my favorite person in the world.
I think a lot of people take the stuff he says way too seriously. Half the time he's just talking out his ass. Hell, he doesn't even believe most of the shit he says. That's one of the many reasons I think he is funny as fuck.
I would agree, except that when people call him on his shit, he gets really defensive about it. That's a lot of effort to expend on a comment that comes out of one's ass. Plus, I think an advice columnist should have a bit more of a sense of responsibility than he has. I took a big group of people to see him speak about a year ago, and I don't think a single person left that engagement not thinking that Dan Savage is a big ass.
