Revisiting Old Memes
Jun. 17th, 2004 08:31 pmWe all remember this meme right?
Pick ANY 20 LJ users on your friends list. Without revealing their names, say something about (or to) each one of them. Never reveal who is what.
I did it a while back when my LJ was still new and I only had, like 15 people on my friends list. Now that I have more I thought I'd do it again just so I could say some nice things about the people who've added me since then.
I'm gonna treat this as a continuation of the original list hence the reason I'm starting at number 13.
And as usual since I don't believe in keeping shit like this secret, anyone who can guess which paragraph is directed towards them gets a cookie. Mind you not everyone on my friends list has gotten a paragraph. Even so, if you can't find yourself here you may find yourself in the original list.
Let's begin shall we?
13) Hello Lover. Though our downs seem a bit more plentiful then our ups these days, you remain one of my most cherished. You've provided me with so much over the past two years. You've refused to run when I've been at my ugliest. You've turned the mundane rhythms of everyday living into a symphony. You are my favorite conductor. I can only hope I've done as much for you as you've done for me. While I don't know how much longer this will last let there be no doubt that I will keep you in my heart forever. Promise? Promise.
14) You don't think yourself a particularly gifted dancer, but you can't see yourself from the outside. I was there with you in Beginning Modern, and I watched you in awe. You executed each step, each combination with such energy and enthusiasm that I could see you were falling in love. That huge love is what keeps you going and it shall be the key to your success.
15) I have a soft spot for boys with long hair. The first time I saw your cute little ponytail I knew I had to meet you. We may have gotten off to a rocky start but I've come to respect you as a writer and thinker...even if you do stumble over your words sometimes :-)

16) Of all the English department rejects you are my favorite. It helped to know there was another writer on campus who was picking up on the flippant and disrespectful way the creative writng faculty was dealing with the students who weren't Andy Rea. You let me know I wasn't alone in feeling left out. You also let me know I wasn't alone in wanting to staple Monica Berlin's lips to a tree.
17) We may not be close, and you may be married to Weirdness, but I've always had a bit of a crush on you. And your long ass hair.

18) I could just go on for the umpteenth time about how orally talented you are, but that would be redundant. Instead I'll say that I admire you. You've had it rough for a few years, and I find your ability to keep bouncing back truly remarkable. You've got strength of character and spirit, not to mention tons of heart. I salute you my fellow wall climber, may your efforts always reap just rewards (like make out sessions in public restrooms with randomly passing girls.)
19) You used to say you felt like my sidekick though nothing could have been further from the truth. You, my dearest, were the sun I orbitted throughout Freshman year. You may have viewed me as some sort of social butterfly but the only truly meaningful interactions I had were with you. After a night spent with one of those filthy boys you always said I was too good for, all I ever wanted was to come home to you, turn off the lights, and talk across the darkness of our room before drifting off to sleep. Only you ever exerted such gravitational pull on me. And though you never particularly cared for the song "Angels Would Fall" by Melissa Etheridge, the chorus still sums up my feelings about you.

20) You were the first person I added to my friends list that I'd never met in real life. My first exclusively LJ acquaintence. Girl, you were just so cool, cute, and dorky I couldn't resist. You continue to be a valuable addition, posting the perfect comments at the perfect times and making me feel a little more understood.
21) I know where you live, but I don't know your name. I know what you do to make money, but I don't know how you spend it. I know what you do with girls, but I don't know what you look for in them. It's these mysteries and more that will keep you on my friends list for a long time to come.
22) You know exactly how to press my princess buttons. You can turn my face red or make me feel like I'm floating on air. Your sweet words have kept my head above water these past few weeks and I don't think I'll ever be able to express how truly grateful I am for it. You've a good head on your shoulders, an amazing drive to create, tons of personality, and sexiness oozing out your pores. You must be magic. That's the only explanation I can find for why you don't make me sneeze. You are the pettest of my pets, and while it was I who followed you home rather then the other way around, I've already begged my mom, and she said I could keep you.
23) You know as well as I do how deeply connected we are. Every game of pine cone hockey, every nude modeling session, every 1:00 AM walk to Casey's for cigarettes has strengthened our bond. Closer than sisters. You are my heart, my blood, my whole god damn circulatory system. You keep me alive.

24) You are my one woman pep squad, sending me daily emails of encouragement after I was kicked out of college and working to get back in, urging me to audition for shows promising I'd get cast if I just tried, and offering constructive criticism on all my shitty poetry. If not for you I'd probably be asking "would you like fries with that," right about now. Aside from being a tireless sounding board you've proven yourself a devoted friend. How many nights have we sat up talking about boys? How many people have we managed to scare with llamas? You're one of a busty blond kind! Don't ever change.

Date: 2004-06-24 05:43 pm (UTC)I misses my Carwa. Next time you have the time and money, we need to see each other. Somehow. I want to gossip with you and hug you. Actually, I can't believe we let this much time go between visits. I misses my T, too.
