Who shall I visit?

Guess what I acquired today? VACATION DAYS!!! Ten of them in fact!!! Pretty spiffy, ay? I got a memo this afternoon informing me that NYIT had up and changed the way they handle and distribute vacation days with regard to new hires.

Previously, and I'm sure I've mentioned this before because I was really pissed off about it, the way it worked was new hires were allowed 10 vacation days after they'd been here for a year. Pretty normal. However there was one little rub, all vacation days for the year were doled out in June, so if you were hired after June (like I was) you wouldn't get any vacation days until the June after you'd been here a year. So, to illustrate: I was hired Oct. 1 2003, so on Oct 1 2004 I will have been here for a year, but I wouldn't get any vacation days until June of 2005. Fucked up, no?

But I guess the higher ups figured out how blazingly unfair that was. Now everyone who was hired between June 2003 and November 2003 are immediately eligible for vacation days. So I, in a word, am PSYCHED!!!!!! Now I have a whole week and a half of vacation time in addition to three personal days that I can start using up at my leisure!!! *does happy white girl dance*

This opens up so many possibilities! I could go visit people! People who live further away than DC!!!! I can go to my Dad's wedding in November. I can go see Mike and Danielle in Portland. I can go visit some of my friends in Illinois...wait...strike that, they all own cats :-p Bottom line, I now have a lot more freedom of movement and do not have to feel chained to my job for the next four months.

In other news: I miss Tina, Melly, and Libby.

I don't remember Canada being all that interesting. Then again, the last I went to Canada was 10 years ago. You should really ask Jay; he's the Canada fanatic. =P

I've raised half the money to Chautauqua, I am so damn excited you can't believe.
If I had more money I'd visit you while i was there. Maybe you can visit me there...I think it's like 8hours away.
I miss you too. Some ass-wipe stoled the box I had for your paintings and now I have to find another. THat freakin pisses me off. I should have just unstretched them, bought them with me when I visited you and restretched them. But, was I that smart back then...noooo.
I have been thinking about what I'll do after bein in G-burg awhile, if I should stay off another year to earn more money or what. If I do I think ill try to transfer to a hyvee in Iowa or another western state. Just for a change or something. Detatch myself from Knox but stay away from home.
Be independent. Be an adult. Haha.
Sweet deal with vacation days. At hyvee I wouldn't get that until I was there like 5years. Or some crap. I haven't even heard a thing about benefits except a note saying I was eligible but not hwo to get them. NIce huh.

Urgh...I hate flying too, but I'm not afraid of it as such. Airports are extremely stressful places for me to be in, and air travel is extremely boring. I don't like sitting still on a plane for any more than 2 hours, so transatlantic flights are a major bummer.

My fear of flying is a fairly recent development. When I was younger I used to fly al the time: to Florida to see my grandparents, to North Carolina to see my dad, and in recent year to Illinois for school. But after 9/11...forget it. I know it's totally irrational. I know no one is gonna blow up a plane headed anywhere I'd be interested in going. But nowadays whenever I even think about getting on a plane I get these awful images in my head of how frightening it must have been to be on those planes with no way out, knowing you were gonna die. And from there I start having nightmares, and it's all just bad news. It's easier to just a freaking train.

No. no news of Libby. I keep meaning to email or phone her but...*sigh* we both know what a lazy ass I am about that stuff. And she hasn't been online for months so, I have no idea.

I realized it's been three years since I last saw you. :-(
