Materialism
Dec. 26th, 2003 02:52 amOkay here's the take: six work shirts, one pair of pajama bottoms, one new baby blue robe, new Kristin Hersh album, REM's greatest hits, Tom Franklin's latest novel, hair ties, a hand blown glass paper weight that's mad pretty, new umberella, and lots of socks.
Pretty nice so far, and I still have Mike and Danielle's presents to open when they get home on Saturday. We spoke to them today. Apparently their Christmas in Portland isn't turning out too well. THeir first day Mike had a severe asthma attack and had to be taken tot hte hospital. The same day Danielle lost her ATM card and have thus had no money for the entire trip. Add to that the fact that they've had a hard time scheduling time with Danielle's family and you can see why they are gonn be happy to get home this weekend.
I'm watching Little Shop of Horrors right now. What a fabulous movie. So funny.
Anyway, Yesterday Mom and I went to see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. It was really fun. I enjoyed it immensely, save for the living naitivity at the end. Up till then it had remained a relatively religion free show.
Before the show we went to see the tree in Rockerfeller center, and after that I dragged mom over to Saint Pat's to look at the manger. I have nothing against manger scenes when kept in their proper place, namely, big honking Catholic Churches. It had been so long since I wa sin there, I forgot how lovely it is with all the altars dedicated to the various saints. Would be a perfect place for pagan communion and spell casting considering the fact that most catholic saints are based on pagan gods and goddesses.
Let's see, spoke to Dad, Mike, Danielle, Greg, GC, Other Mike, Tina, and get this,
skoriaan! He called me from basic to say Merry Christmas!!! It was a brief call. He gave me his mailing address which I'm sure I copied down wrong. But...I was stunned. It was the first time the boy has EVER called me. He never even called me when we were sleeping together! I don't know what his deal is. Don't think I want to either.
