How many people have you been in love with in your life, in the traditional romantic sense of the term?

All I'm looking for is a number. No names, no stories, no explanations.

For me, the magic number is 4.

Your turn.

I know, isn't it interesting? It seems that by the time people (well, the people I know) reach their mid to late twenties they have been in love about four times. I may have to explore this phenomena with follow up questions.

Well, sometimes you hit the jackpot on your first spin. =)

might need a larger study base to really determine "4" as being the magic number of love. It might be more that your friends tend to be around the same number as you instead of all people around your age.

Also, a lot of people define being "in love" differently than other people. It's one of those "you know it when you feel it" experiences. And to some being in love is less of a feeling and more of a choice of how to be with a person. For example, the difference of being enamored of someone and actively loving somebody daily.

I realize this isn't a large sample but, then again I don't plan on writing any academic papers based on the results. I was just curious, the same way I occasionally wonder who everyone's favorite Beatle is.

I didn't try to actually define the words "in love" precisely because I know people define it in different ways. I figured I'd let the respondants answer according to their own definition. I don't need to know what their definition is in order to feel satisfied with the response.

George is a good one. I'm partial to his solo material.

Sir Paul is my favorite :-)
