There are lots of race related articles sprinkled about the blogosphere today. Rather than offering any lengthy commentary at this time I'll just link you to a couple of the most...thought provoking.

Study Finds That Whites Underestimate the Cost of Being Black

Supreme Court Decides "public school systems cannot seek to achieve or maintain integration through measures that take explicit account of a student’s race."

I read about that second story yesterday, and literally did a head-desk. I'm glad the Supreme Court is working overtime to correct the wrongs done against poor disadvantaged white people. *rolls eyes*

The first article was interesting, but I have my reservations about it. It's not that I don't agree that most white people severely underestimate the cost of being black in the U.S.-- far from it-- but the methodology of the study sounds kinda weird, and it's unclear to me how clearly the study results led to the conclusions they make in the article. Perhaps if I could see the study in full, I'd be more satisfied.

Your concerns about the study are ones that I've seen voiced on many a response thread to that article this morning. On one of them someone posted a link to the abstract. Maybe I'll see if I can find it. Also, give it a month or so and I'm sure the entire thing will be availible in full somehwere on the internet.

I haven't yet formulated a cogent response to either issue which is why I just sposted the links and ran. As soon as I can get my head together (it's been a L O N G week) I'm gonna say...I dunno. Something. :-p
