I'm sitting here listening to one of our student aids talking on her cellphone. She's fucking hilarious, talking all about silly college appropriate melodrama. Anyhow, I've noticed that since I graduated from college I've stopped using the word "like" so often.
"....I,like, can't even tell you the number of, like, times, like, that she, like...." Just a snatch of conversation from the aforementioned cell conversation. God, I'm so glad I don't sound like that anymore. That kind of speech even found its way into my writing for a time. Just read any entry written in 2002.
Now, I don't use "like" as filler. I will consider this a sign of my developing intelligence and maturity. And a result of being removed from an environment populated by post-teens.
