My, what an extraordinary day it has been.

Much to my surprise, today WAS Flunk Day. FINALLY!!!!

I woke up at 9:30 AM to the sound of Gemma knocking on my bedroom door and saying "Honey? It's Flunk Day."

I think I rolled over, pulled up my covers and muttered something like "Stop shitting me. I didn't hear any friars."

To which she replied, "Neither did I. I checked my email though. For real it's Flunk Day." (Later in the morning we'd discover that in their drunken stupor, the friars totally by passed the entire North end of campus including the apartments, the town houses, and Williston. Instead they proceeded dirctly to the quads which is why none of us woke up earlier.)

So, I got dressed and around 10:00 AM headed out to the quads. This year as an alternative to the traditional mud pit, they had a foam pit just filled with soap and water. Good clean fun for the entire campus. I entered the quads to find all the dancers engaged in a huge game of hokey pokey!!!

I said hello to a few people, Jason Connell, Yaritza, Caitlin, but I was mainly looking for Tina who was no where in sight. I killed time by going to my mailbox and strolling about campus, but she was no where to be found. I had just about given up and was on my way to get some breakfast at the Broadview when I ran into her outside of Williston.

That was the turning point of the morning and I can honestly say if I hadn't run into her I probably would have just sat in my room all day sulking.

Instead, the two of us went over to Broadview and had some brunch. We arrived back on campus just as the Karoeke was starting and all the activities were getting underway. For the first time in my entire college history I participated in Flunk Day activities. Tina and I ran through the inflatable obstacle course. It had this huge slide at the very end that was a total blast to go down. We sang two Karoeke songs, Come to my Window and Hey Jude. T, Heather Courtney, and I all did the time warp in the middle of the lawn. John Haslem and I pushed Tina around in the human hamster ball.

This year they had some really cool stuff. For instance, a cotton candy machine! I hadn't had cotton candy since I was 10!!! And on the table where they usually keep all the water and first aid material, they also had the foresight to stock sun screen as well. So very early in the morning when it became aparent that we were gonna be out for a while I had Tina grease me up, he he!

The late afternoon activites were great. They had a petting zoo!!! There was a chinchilla, a prairie dog, a goat, a donkey, a llama, and get this, a black bear cub!!! OMIGOD the baby bear was the cutest thing I think I have ever seen. Her fur was so soft and her paws were so big and she was just so friendly. The whole campus fell in love with her. By the end of the day we all wanted to take her home with us.

After the petting zoo Tina and I proceeded over to the tye dying table where we each tye dyed our own t-shirts. It was the first time I'd everdone it and the shirt came out really GOOD!! Unusually good considering we were literally the last people to dye our shits and by the time we got up there most of the dye had been used up. All that was left was red. My shirt wound up having this nifty red and purple and mauve kinda design on it and it's really neat.

After that we played kids games. We made balloon animals, and blew bubbles, and played carnival games like horseshoes and stuff of that ilk. In fact, as the day wore down Craig Southern commented that we seemed to be the two most active students on campus! He was like "I've seen the two of you everywhere I've looked today!" And it's true. Tina and I were just looking for fun all day long, and we found it! And best of all, we found it without having a drop of alcohol!

We ate dinner at Hammers. We opted to skip the band in the quad because we were exhausted. Instead, we went to the library and rented some DVDs. We watched Mighty Aphrodite and the second Harry Potter movie both of which I really enjoyed.

So this, my final Flunk Day was successful!!! If we want to look at statistics we can now say I've enjoyed 2 out of 5 Flunk Days. The only other one I had this much fun during was sophomore year when Gayle and I hung out all day together and didn't drink.

I now feel as though a huge load has been lifted from my shoulders. I can finally concentrate on WORK again!!! Even so, I'm sad to see night time taking over. I didn't expect to have this much fun today. I owe it all to Tina without whose tireless enthusiasm, I would have never ventured out of my room! I'm so glad I was able to end my time here on such a good note.

Happy Flunk Day all!!! :)
