LJ has been dead for almost 24 hours. My friend's list has seen close to zero action. I'm bored. I want someone to talk to.

Yesterday Amber came down to use my color printer since hers is on the fritz. Amber is the stunningly gorgeous assistant who works on the third floor and is sweet as heck but makes everyone in the office look like lunch meat when standing next to her. So I'm printing out a couple documents for her and we're engaging in pleasant chit chat when she asks if I'm gonna take a class this term. I frown and explain to her why I can't. She scowls and says "That doesn't sound right." She continues by telling about all the red tape she went through to register for a dance class. She hit road block after road block before finally going to Lois, the head of HR and asking for help. Lois was able to get her registered by the end of the day. "Go to Lois," she advises.

So I did. I emailed Lois as soon as Amber finished her print job, told her all about the walls I've been coming up against these last couple weeks, and asked how the heck a staff memeber was supposed to register for a class. A few minutes later she called me. She said all the information I'd been given was totally wrong, that all I needed to register for a graduate class was the approval of the Graduate Studies Office and submission of a tuition remission form. That's it. I immediately emailed Alex, the super nice Assistant Director of the Graduate Writing Program who I corresponded with a little last week, and asked if there was still room in the Creative Nonfiction Craft class for me. She said there probably would be but that she'd have to wait until after registration to be sure. She promised to send me a list of all the open classes on Thursday and I can pick which one I'd like to enroll in. I don't know about anyone else but that sure as hell sounds like approval to me.

So now I MAY get to take a graduate writing class. More developments as they come.

PS TALK TO ME DAMMIT!
