I have two tickets to see Rollins on March 25th at the Zipper Theater. *pumps fist* YES! I arrived a half hour after the tickets went on sale and the dude at the box office said to me with a hint of awe, "Wow, this is a really popular show." No shit sherlock, why do you think Zipper booked the man for 8 nights? With the first wave of Generation Xers pushing 40 and the final wave reaching their quarter life crisis 80's nostalgia is on the rise as we all try to cling to our misspent youths while becoming more and more like our parents with each passing minute, OF COURSE Rollins is gonna be a popular ticket. The man never matured beyond the age of 23 and we envy him for it.

Went to see The Gates yesterday. They were orange. I'm a pretty big fan of installation and interactive art but The Gates were missing something, namely, a point. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know Christo specifically said there was no grand meaning behind the project but I think it would have been far more satisfying if there had been. If there were some sort of internal structure, maybe? Or as Monica said, specific moments on the path where the Gates just kind of frame the environment or come together with each other to create...something? I'm not an art critic so I don't have the vocabulary to properly articulate my thoughts here. If [livejournal.com profile] silent_t were around she could hand me the correct terminology. Bottom line, I wasn't impressed. I won't go as far as to say it's not art but it definitely lacked the kind of thought and intention possessed by most works of art.
