Sexy Hypnotist
Sep. 21st, 2004 05:03 pmI was up till 5:00 AM playing Sims 2. After reading
dpsycho's latest LJ entry and finding out the game had already been released I ran over to CompUSA on my munch break and purchased a copy. At first I was a little worried it wouldn't run on my computer. I popped into
thesims community for the first time in ages and all I found was entry after entry of woeful sims players whining about how their video cards wouldn't support the graphics. Sure my computer is only a year old but it's not particularly loaded so I was a little worried my comp wouldn't be able to handle them either. But there was no reason for me to fret. The game installed perfectly and...OH. MY. GOD. I am now officially in love!!!
The graphics are spectacular!!! Instead of changing the angle of view now you can simply pan around. You have more control over your sims creation. You can choose their specific hair color and style. You can choose every detail of their facial structure. You get to choose all of their outfits including sleep, swim, and formal wear. In addition to their daily needs, each sim has a life long aspiration that you must strive to satisfy. Sims also have an actual lifespan now. They get born, age, and eventually die. It's so awesome!!!
I created a chracter last night, Belinda Capritto. Her aspiration is to find love. What that actually translates to in the game is the desire to make "woohoo" (yes thats what they call it in the game) with as many different sims as possible, and to have as many simultaneous loves as possible. So basically I have a polyamorous sim! I had one of her lovers, Christy Stratton move in with her, and it's all fine and good except for the fact that Christy wants to get married. Her aspiration is to start a family, and Belinda has an intense fear of commitment (that's another thing, sims now have individual fears.) So I'm thinking these two may have to part ways eventually if either of them is to achieve their life goals. Either that or I'll have them experiment with communal poly living :-D
So there you have my latest greatest escapist activity!!! May it live long and prosper! It has already proven to be ten times more fun then my actual life, but then again the sims always are.
I think I may have to spring for a paid lj membership. I have all these new icons I want to use, but I don't want to take down any of my current ones. I love dem too much. I have three great Homicide:Life on the Streets icons, one Princess Bride icon, one Cowboy Bebop icon, and I'm suppose to be getting a couple custom made ones today from Other Mike. I want to be able to use all of them. Grrr. Wish I didn't have to spend money to do it.
Before I left for work this morning I showed Brother Michael this picture taken in the 1950's of what we thought a home computer would look like in 2004. He said "Hey that looks fun."
I scowled at him. "Are you nuts? I wouldn't want to maneuvre that huge fucking crank every time I wanted to use my computer."
"Naw man, you hook that baby up to XBox? It'll be sweet!"
I love my brother. As I was leaving the house he said "Have fun pushing the student aids around."
You know what I was thinking today? I was thinking about how glad I am to be getting older. I mean, yeah I'm only 25 that's hardly ancient, but it's worlds away from 19. Most of my current student aids are 19 and they're all so fucking stupid!!! Seriously, they can't follow instructions, they get embroiled in ridiculous drama, and they haven't a shred of common sense. And when I look at them I think "Wow, I remember when I was like this," and I'm so thankful I no longer am. Don't get me wrong, I still get myself into stupid situations, but none of them even half as stupid as the ones I was getting into the first couple years of college. And I'm looking forward to being able to look back at myself in another five years and think "God was I stupid at 25."
Intelligence and common sense are just so fucking sexy to me I'm excited to be gaining more of it. I think the smarter I get the hotter I become. By the time I'm 80 I'll be the sexiest grandma on the planet!!!
