Happy Trails
Dec. 20th, 2003 01:30 pmIt's been a while since I've been able to update from work on a Saturday. I tried to get out of the habit of doing it mainly because I didn't want Sebastien thinking I was completely useless. But he isn't here today. Nope, he's flown on back to Canada, and Mary is subbing for him. So I can type :-)
Mary is still all high on the idea of Sebastien and I hooking up. We came in this morning and found that he had left us gifts: a banana for Mary, and a DVD for me. (On loan for Christmas break along with his copy of Rimbaud.) This sent Mary into one of her grand speeches on what an incredible human being Sebastien is. After listing each and everyone of his numerous virtues she was like, "Carla you should flirt with him! You two are both such great people, you would be perfect together!" Of course I was like, "No, he's my co-worker," but I gotta admit I find it really sweet that she talks about the two of us getting together. Mainly because it shows how much she cares about him. Honestly, she admires him so much and thinks so highly of him. It's just so cute how much she wants to see him happily settled with a nice girl.
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but Monday and Tuesday it's just gonna be me and Mary running the library. No Jennifer, or Carol, or Sebastien, or Charles, or Lymon, just me and her, 9-5. It'll be exactly as it is right now. And right now, all is well.
Well, it's fine for Mary and I, it's not so fine for Dmitriy. Finals are over. Winter break has begun. And everyone is returning the books they've had all semester long. We have four full carts of books and Dmitriy has to shelve ALL of them. Sucks to be him. But I can sympathize. I worked as a grunt in a college library, I know how sucky it is to shelve cart after cart of books for five hours at a stretch. And for that reason alone I am enjoying the fact that HE is the one who has to do it, not me. The fact that I hate him is just an added bonus :-)
