In the Middle of the Night
Sep. 3rd, 2003 03:04 amHello Livejournal,
I went to the dentist today. First time I've been since spring break my freshman year of college all of...four years ago. I breathed a tremendous sigh of relief when Dr. Diamond told me that my teeth looked fine, my gums were healthy, and that the only problem he could see were the wisdom teeth. Turns out my lower left hand one has a cavity in it, and my lower right hand one, the one that was hurting, is putting too much pressure on my jaw and is irritating my gums. He said they definitely needed to come out or else they'll just keep causing me problems.
Came home and told mom, and her reaction was pretty much "well if they are't hurting right this minute theres no reason to get them removed." My response to which is "MOM, you said the same thing four years ago. And look!!! Dr. Diamond was right! The darn things are still causing me problems." But there's no reasoning with the woman. She swears to high heaven we don't have the money to pay for the surgery, yet every weekend she goes out and shops like a maniac for new clothes. For all the money she spends, if she just saved up for a month I'd bet my bottom dollar we'd have enough to yank my wisdom teeth.
*sigh* But it loks like she won't pay for it. Neither will Dad. He's made it quite clear that after putting me through college he doesn't owe me shit. I have roughly 2000 dollars in the bank, give or take 100. I saved it up all last year so I'd have something to live on after I graduated. I buy food and tokens and shit like that with it. I was gonna begin paying back my student loans with it, if there was enough in the account come January. Mom and I planned it out that way. I wanted to have some money set aside so I wouldn't have to totally mooch off her when I came back home. If she's not willing to pay for my oral surgery, I'm gonna have to dip into those funds and pay for it myself. Frankly, I would prefer not to have to do that. I wanted to make that money last. Mom wouldn't like it if I used it. But if she isn't gonna help me out here I don't have much choice. She can either pay for the surgery now, or she can give me hand outs for the next six months and beyond, her choice. And I'm not gonna sit around and wait for the next painful tooth attack. Nope, I've had it!!! I want this bitch of a tooth out so I can get on with my fucking life.
Anyhow, here's a shot of my beautifully cleaned teeth, taken right after I got back from the dentist, before they were sullied by lunch. Notice in this poorly lit shot, they are the whitest thing visible.
In other news I got my Sims game to work again. Apparently I created some corrupt art work files that were crashing it. So I had to save all my families to the desktop, uninstall and reinstall the game, and then put the families back into their respective files. And it all turned out fine accept for one little thing. My favorite character now wears a different outfit!!! Not that that's a bad thing, I was getting tired of her old clothes anyway, but I just think thats really funny. Nothing else was disturbed, it was just that one person. Weird.
Been trying to straighten up my "room." Gotta make this place spick and span for
silent_t. Well actually Dick is coming to see the openning night of Michael's show next week, so we need to clean it up for him too. But he's not as important as T. He's not staying as long, nor is he my best friend.
I got a chance to speak briefly with
afraidofliving on MSN the other night. I liked talking to him. He totally understands depression. I know that seems a foregone conclusion but for someone who's not used to being understood when she talks about depression, it was pretty shocking. Damn time difference almost guarentees I'll NEVER run into him online again, but even that one conversation was nice.
AOL has been pissing me off tonight. It keeps kicking me off and taking forever to connect and all that other evil AOL shit. Better end this entry before I get kicked off again and lose the entire thing.
