I've got this purple leather case sitting in my lap. It's lightweight, about the size of a spiral notebook, and has the Knox College emblem emblazed on the front. It holds my Bachelor of Arts diploma.

That's right, I got myself all graduated this afternoon, and let me tell you it was amazing! After 5 years, I swear I had no idea how great it would feel! I can't give you a play by play of the day because it went by so fast, but I can give you a few flashes of memory.

-I wore my MVA class ring, and my "wedding" ring during the ceremony so that all of my friends and loved ones could be there in spirit. Very novel since I never wear jewelry.

-I shouted my head off when Tina went up to get her diploma. I'm so proud of her.

-As per usual, families and friends were cheering after each graduate received their diploma. It became so routine that when someone walked on stage and didn't get any applause, the crowd audibly went "aw." I was hoping I wouldn't be one of those, but since I'm me, I was afriad I would. But when my name was called not only did my mom, Mike, Danielle, and Tina cheer but I heard all of the alums stading in the back of the crowd scream and cheer. I've never felt so loved. Gemma, Adam, Katie, Jeremiah, Gayle, Angie, Dave, Heather, Will, Agnes, Julie, Noah, Christopher, all of them just let her rip!!!!

I can't stop looking at it, the diploma that is. It's so pretty. I can't believe I have it. After 5 hard years I have it. I had to sneak a peek at it after I sat down in my seat because I was half afraid I would open the cover and find one of those "you aren't graduating yet" notes. But no, it was a real diploma, signed by the president of the college with my full name and degree spelled out on it.

I started crying when the choir sang. I didn't think I'd get mushy. But this place has been my home for years and I'm going to miss the family I've created here.

I have more to say but I can't quite verbalize it just yet. I'll come back in a few days and ruminate a little more on this monumental event.
