There's Always Crack
May. 9th, 2002 03:40 amTina and I spent the night watching VH1's countdown of the top 100 one hit wonders of all time. We noticed that many of the artists were dead and they had all died from one of three causes 1) AIDS 2)Cancer 3) Drug overdose.
When the countdown was over we wacthed the Boy George Behind The Music in which he details his struggle with drug addiction. All of this lead T and I to a conclusion: When your really down and out, when you are shitting youre pants, after you've lost your friends, family, and record deal, and there's no one else left, you always have crack!
Yes crack. Crack will never leave you. No matter how scuzzy you are, the crack will not run away screaming. The crack will stay and cuddle with you. The crack loves you!
I told T I'd have to remember this the next time I'm depressed. :)
I've been feeling decent today. I think I may have even been happy for a minute or two. Right now I've returned to my neutrality. I took a short walk with Heather today, and then I had dinner with her and Gayle. I interpretted a dream that Gayle had. I concluded it was all about herd mentality and hidden sexual desires. How very Freudian of me.
I'm going to try and start going to Lit class again. As a first step I read the first few pages of Beloved tonight, the next novel we have to read. Already I'm absolutely astounded by Toni Morrison's incredible use of language. Her prose are just so smooth and original. They have a classic quality to them, but they are thoroughly modern. The languages is so beautiful it just draws you into the story right off the bat and keeps you moving through it.
And I just finished reading the latest entry in Heather H's LiveJournal. She is so in love with Wes, and it sounds like he is finally treating her with the tenderness she deserves. They are so adorable. I can't help but feel happy for her. It almost gives one hope. Seems as though Heather has managaed to reform a bad boy. He gave up his unsatisfying noncommital ways just to be with her. Experts say such things cannnot be done and that women shouldn't even try. But the girl has done it. Everyone who has ever dated a bad boy can be jealous of Heather Holquest. Leave it to that little sprite to be the exception to the rule :) Maybe I could reform...oh shut up Carla, go to sleep.
