Movie Quotes Meme

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDB search functions. That's cheating.

Well that's it. That and last night I had a dream in which you were trying to convince me to become a fur coat salesman for the Lizard People in order to advance my artistic career. Hope I got 'em right!

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You did pretty good there, Matt. You did pretty good. However #2 is definitely not Shatner related although it would be funny as hell if it were. I was watching the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner the other night. Betty White and George Takai ripped into him in glorious fashion. It was beautiful.

As for the dream...I'm speechless. I can't believe you actually received the transmission! You know, the Lizard People were a little concerned that you weren't mentally or spiritually advanced enough to communicate on their level. But I just told them "You don't know Matt. He is a wise and receptive soul, full of deep thoughts, abstract understanding of society, and great artistic ferver." I insisted that they let me try and communicate with you telepathically before they came to any definitive conclusions about your worth as a fur coat salesman. And now? Well, now they are totally sold on you! So, you want the job, or what?

[identity profile] greenblackevil.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! I'm in. I'm so in. I'll sell so many fur coats for them that they won't even DREAM of regretting it! The proceeds from the fur coat sales that I bring about will be so great that they can totally ditch that sleazy french racecar driver and use me to bring about the most pole-shifting, soul-bursting, Atlantis-Returning Aquariustastic Apocalypse EVER! This I swear by the squiggly line doodles that this career move is supposed to help me sell.

Seriously, though, it went like this: "Matt, this is New York- If you want to make it as an artist you have to sell fur coats for the Lizard People."

That is so totally something I would say :-D I can almost hear myself being mildly snotty about it.

[identity profile] sioux-zee.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Most impressive, Susie! Those were the two I honestly didn't expect anyone to get.

#7 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder.

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Close enough! If you hadn't specified the Gene Wilder version it would have been a no go since that one is called "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."

[identity profile] gwydionsw.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
#5 is Shawshank Redemption. I'm gonna guess at #14: Meet Joe Black?

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You got the first one right. Gemma picked up the second one.

[identity profile] nabuchodonosor.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG is 14 Awakenings with De Niro?

Exclamation Points, Ahoy!

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh HA HA!!! You got it!! That was yet another one I didn't think anyone would get. But of course you got it because you are exceptional and lovely and watch too many movies! I love you my dear!

[identity profile] dpsycho.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Is #6 The Goonies? I have the DVD, but I haven't seen the film since, um maybe the 80's...

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
You are correct, sir! I'm really surprised nobody got this one sooner. I mean, it's the Goonies! We all saw the Goonies when we were five!

[identity profile] devilindupriest.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
3) ...for some reason I'm thinking Neverending Story.

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid not. [livejournal.com profile] devilindupriest I'm surprised at you! If memory serves, this movie was on your list of 15 as well.

[identity profile] devilindupriest.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Doh. The old witch from The Dark Crystal. Heh. Yup. I even went into this expecting it to be on your list. =)

is number 9 from Pretty in Pink? Duckie to Andi?

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Score one for Wendy! You are correct! I love Pretty in Pink. It's my favorite of all the John Hughes/Molly Ringwald movies from the 80's.

I haven't talked to you in a while. How are you doing?

[identity profile] sacheverell.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty in Pink is fantastic, you're right! It's got depth to it! I'm addicted to the 80s though! I'm ok thanks - jobseeking which can be a bit stressful, and living back with my parents - tis only temporary though I suppose :) How are you getting on? Are you doing much writing?

[identity profile] morrigirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You've graduated from university, yes? And now it's on to the job search? Oh, how I DETEST job hunting. The only good thing about it is knowing that everyone else on the planet has to go through the same torture sometime in their lives. What kind of jobs are you looking for?

Honey, baby, child, all I do these days is write. I've got poems flying out of me faster than a sneeze. Right now I've got six poems under consideration at three different literary magazines and a couple of chapbook manuscripts under consideration in various contests. I've finally started getting serious about my writing and it feels great. Otherwise, I'm doing okay. I enjoy my job but it's very busy and hectic. Still living in a very small apartment. Still got me an awesome boyfriend. Things are good, and thanks for asking :-)
