The Night Before

Wouldn't ya know it, I can't sleep. I'm due to "wake up" in three hours and I haven't even gone to sleep yet. Why oh why do they insist on training me during the day? Why not on my normal 2-10 shift? Then I could get some rest. Oh well, guess the work day will just have to suck. It's not being awake for 24 hours that worries me, it's the four hours I have to stay at work BEYOND that. It's the extra hours that REALLY make me weird.

Geez, how many times have I found myself unable to sleep at 2 a.m. or later when I have to be up at 8 a.m. or earlier the next day? I've lost count.

Last night was special. I didn't fall asleep until 2 a.m. and then woke up at 6:30 a.m. to see whether or not the Red Sox won.

They didn't. There was no point to being awake.
