Bottled Water - SCN
Wow, I'm gone for one day and they change the entire diaries set up on me. COOL!!! I love it, it looks great! They finally added new emoticons, hallelujah!! And separate pages for entries so you don't have to load all of them whenever you want to read someones journal. Sweet deal.
Well, I'm back in NYC after a delightful trip home in the sleeping car Mike booked for me. And, while I didn't sleep any better than I typically do in coach, I certainly got Mikey's monies worth in terms of privacy and entertainment. The car was totally private as in I could close my door and lock it, close my blinds, I was even able to change into my pj's come bed time. I had my own personal toilet and sink, really there was no reason for me to leave my car. EVER! It had a TV too so I watched a couple movies and a few episodes of Friends. Saw Catch Me if You Can. Must say I haven't seen Leo perform that well since Gilbert Grape. He was actually ACTING for once.
When I got off the train Mom informed me that Josh had called at 9 AM that morning to see if I was home yet. That made me feel special. So I called him the minute I walked in the door. We talked for an hour, and he sounded happy to hear my voice. I know I was happy to hear his. We're going to the movies tomorrow, he's gonna take me to see Matrix Reloaded. Of course, that in and of itself is enough reason to be excited, but since I get to see Josh, that means I also get the smoochies and cuddlies he's been promising me. :D Yes, I'm a dork, but I'm a dork in desperate need of physical affection from anyone other than Will Culbertson :-p
I've decided that my diploma is the most beautful thing I've ever seen in my life. I keep looking at it. Can't keep my eyes off it. There is my name on a certificate confirming that I have completed college, and it's real and no one can ever take it away from me or say "oops we made a mistake." It's mine, and I worked my ass off for it intellectually and emotionally. I've never been so proud of anything in my life.
On the train I was thinking of the things I learned at college and came to the conclusion that the most valuable lessons were learned outside the classroom. They were social lessons, romantic lessons, lessons about protocol. And geography. I can now name just about all of the Chicago suburbs :) Definitely couldn't do that 5 years ago. Oak Park, Cicero, Berwyn, Wilmette, Evanston, Homewood, Alsip, Orland Park, Arlington Heights, Glen Ellyn etc. etc.
Though I'm happy to be home, I must admit that I do miss Galesburg a little. I miss my double single, and my 24 hour a day internet access, and our phone, and my friends at my beck and call 24/7. I miss having food in such close proximity. I miss the grass. And the smell. Luckily the slaughter house didn't stink up the air this year so Galesburg actually smelled some what clean. Like I said before, Knox was my home for 5 years. And it's gonna take time to grow out of it.
The house is an utter mess. Between Mom's spring cleaning, Laura's stray boxes, and my newly imported bags, we've got a live garbage dump on our hands. There is more stuff in this apartment then we can accomadate spacially. I'm gonna try my hardest to get rid of stuff as I unpack and rearrange. Don't know where I'm gonna put anything. Can't get into my dressers or my bookshelves because Mom has shit blocking both of them.
:-p
Oh well. Anyhow it's late and this os a very long distance call so I must be going.
